Album of the Week: The KVB “Tremors”

Album of the Week: The KVB "Tremors"

Our featured album this week is ‘Tremors‘, the brand new record from UK psychedelic/shoegaze/post punk duo The KVB.

The duo, made up of Nicholas Wood and Kat Day, named the album ‘dystopian pop’ and wrote it with the live show in mind, with plenty of energy, hooks, and dynamic elements. Regarding the album’s subject matter, the band notes that they have “extended on previous album themes of dystopia, apocalypse, and the human condition, but with a more pessimistic outlook and deeper distrust than before.” It also explores themes of “loss, resistance, lament, and acceptance of unavoidable change.”

The band wrote the album between Manchester and Bristol, and recorded it with James Trevascus (Billy Nomates, RVG), drawing on their own back catalogue and the music that inspired them at the start of their artistic journey. The end product is The KVB’s most comprehensive album to date, full of emotive impact and pop hooks delivered in a distinctly gloomy environment with an unusual detachment that enhances the dramatic grandeur of their sound.
