Band of the Month: DECEITS (December)

Our featured band this month is Los Angeles post punk/coldwave/new wave band Deceits.

Formed in late 2021 Deceits are: Kevin “Puppy” Moreno, Kevin Hernandez, and Sisco Saenz. Originally formed for fun, and as a way of dealing with the stresses and anxiety of everyday life during quarantine, the three best friends from LA pull from different influences, including deathrock, hardcore punk, dreampop and new wave to craft their unique take on the darker shade of 1980’s post punk that was pioneered by bands like The Cure and Joy Division.

They release their debut single “Every Promise” in October 2021, the track tells a story about love and loss, with the sharp realization that you only have yourself to blame.

2022 saw the release of following singles “Failures” (January), “En Soledad” (May), and ‘Fate/Light‘ (December).

In July this year the band released “Drowning In An Empty Sea“, the first taste of their hihgly-anticipated debut album “If There’s No Heaven….”.

Engineered & Mixed by Alex Estrada at Pale Moon Ranch, and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios, “If There’s No Heaven…”, described by the band as “an album themed in both tragedy and hope”, takes inspiration from classic post-punk bands like The Cure, Sad Lovers & Giants, The Chameleons, and The Danse Society.

The 8-track record also includes other musical influences like new wave, dream pop, deathrock, and even 90’s emo/screamo. Get it here.
