Bristol jank-pop/indie band Belishas have premiered their new single “Operator” and is accompanying video.
The song is out today (Oct 13) and is taken from the upcoming EP ‘Before The Crash‘, due to be released on November 10, it follows last month’s single “The Crash”. Get it here.
Based on duality, the band tread a grey area between fragile melancholy and visceral lament. Since 2019 the group have morphed through many stages and interpretations of itself, landing upon a mixture of scratchy alt rock and modern left field influences.
Operator resolves the concept of the record and touches on the ideas of losing ones self and, in turn, leading to a path of resolution and rebirth. The creative writing process leant heavily into electronic experimentation over repetitive Krautrock influenced grooves.

Belishas “Operator” Lyrics:
I’ve been cheating myself
And losing myself
And breaking my own rules
I’ve been losing myself
I’ve been losing myself
There’s someone else in there I can see him
Tempting fate from the beginning of the evening
And then the operator said
I’m all full of holes
The tissue is dead
And I find myself free
In every scene I’ve made
I’ve never found a part to play for myself
I’m still dreaming of the crash
Do you ever want more?
Yes please
Do you ever want more?
Yes please
Do you ever want more?
Yes please
Do you ever want more?
Yes please
Want more
Then the operator said
I’m all full of holes
The tissue is dead
And I find myself free
