Nottingham, UK indie rock/alt band Do Nothing have released the video for their new single “Happy Feet“, their first in 2 years.
The song was produced by Andy Savours and is out now. Get it here.
Vocalist Chris Bailey explains: “The song is mostly about finding comfort in the ordinary, and learning to give yourself a break sometimes. [The lyric] ‘I put a leaflet in your bag for you to find later and burn’ is sort of a play on the idea that when you make music, you put it out in the world because you want people to hear it. It’s meant to be this pure expression of something, but there’s always that element of wanting people to like it.”

Do Nothing “Happy Feet” Lyrics:
At the house, in 19-something
My uncle Paul dares my mother to drink bleach
Tonight, I’ll put plastic in my mouth
So I can’t grind my teeth, and then I fall asleep
It’s just a hair of difference between being in control
And shuffle down yeah, can’t we just stay home?
I just saw yellow higher
Maybe we deserve each other?
And I don’t have to be here right now
Cause I’ll see you down in hell
We’ll both be there together
While you were freaking out, I put a leaflet in your bag
For you to find later and burn
Don’t get upset, but I’m not gonna dress it up
Today didn’t go so well
Maybe that’s just how it all works
It’s just a hair of difference between being in control
And shuffle down yeah, can’t we just stay home?
I just saw yellow higher
Maybe we deserve each other?
And I don’t have to be here right now
Cause I’ll see you down in hell
We’ll both be there together
I fall asleep, laying on the sofa watching Happy Feet
I’m on my way to work, and I just fire a hole into heaven
Don’t freak out if you don’t know what you’re doing
I don’t either
