Brighton psychedelic-punk/post punk band Egyptian Blue have unleashed a lyric video for “A Living Commodity“.
The song serves as the title track of their excellent debut album ‘A Living Commodity‘ (our current Album of the Week), out now through Yala Records. Get it here.
Andy Buss and Leith Ambrose formed Egyptian Blue in their late teens first bonding over early Foals and The Maccabees and have played music together ever since. The band’s grinding riffs achieve a mesmeric power through brute repetition, while their rhythm section produces taut, nervous energy and intense post-punk grooves in equal measure.

Egyptian Blue “A Living Commodity” Lyrics:
The sun submerged sea
Emerged through the quay
I’ll take back those things I said
When this language is dead
The take of the rye
And the blatant blue sky
This war that’s begun
Is a war not worth won
The sun submerged sea
My faithful trustee
I take back the lies I gave
And I lent bedlam to the stave
The take of the rye
And the blatant blue sky
This war that’s begun
Is a war not worth won
The sun submerged sea
Did once say to me
That we’ll be head over heels
In the water pleading
Don’t entertain every kind of feeling
The take of the rye
And the blatant blue sky
Your suspicion has been estranged
I stand with mine every day
But I still dance to the beat of the drums
Until the bluster bursts to crumbs
You can’t keep yourself astray (x3)
Sit still with the violence you create
