Kyiv based electronic/synthwave/dark disco duo Hungry Boys (made up of Ivan Kotsyubinsky and Dmitry Shevtsov) have revealed their new track “Toi“.
The song features on Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX, the second compilation of dark electronic club music compiled and curated by Luca Venezia, aka Curses for Eskimo Recordings, due to be released this Friday, October 20th. Grab your copy here.
Spread across 3CDs and three 2LPs Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX features a mammoth 49 tracks that join the dots between early industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle, EBM legends like Nitzer Ebb and the post-punk experiments of people like Malcolm McLaren and Big Audio Dynamite with some of the most exciting artists around today, such as Boy Harsher, Nuovo Testamento and Years of Denial.
Originally members of Ukrainian post-punk band Gil’otina, Ivan Kotsyubinsky and Dmitry Shevtsov launched their Hungry Boys side-project in 2020 to experiment with Italo and synth wave sounds. On “Toi”, those influences are on full display, as they mix razor sharp disco beats with mesmerising synth arpeggios, as well as ominous EBM like stabs, and vocals that echo off into space.
