Brisbane indie rock / neo-psychedelia / shoegaze band Local Authority have shared their new single “Hang The World”.
The song offers an insight into the band’s upcoming album ‘Memory Loss’, due out later this year. Get it here.
In a music scene that is consistently growing and evolving in Brisbane, Local Authority has cemented themselves as stand outs for years now. Whilst a refreshing approach to modern shoegaze, their live shows reign true to the more traditional tropes of loud, exploding amps, driving bass, and heavy, yet tucked away drums, similar to bands such as The Cure, my bloody valentine, and Slowdive.
“a beautifully executed shoegaze record, that immediately had all of us convinced at kitty that we should sign them [Local Authority]” – Kitty Records
When asked about the track, vocalist, and guitarist Jacque McGill shared “Hang The World is a document of atmosphere. It’s about the flow of time and alternate worlds, is about longing for connection. It’s about preservation. A yearning to re-shape our lives, fearing for what we might lose in the process.”

To celebrate this release, Local Authority will be playing at The Cave Inn, QLD, on April 13th, alongside Locust Revival, Holding Pattern, and DJ Doom.
