Monograms Drops Music Video For "Listen Up"

Brooklyn, NY nuke wave artist Monograms (aka multi-instrumentalist Ian Jacobs) has dropped the video for his latest single “Listen Up“.

The track features on this year’s album ‘A Fine Commitment‘, out via PaperCup Music. Grab your copy copy here.

Speaking about the song, Jacobs explained:

This song is about trying to change your perspective from something negative to something positive. But within that lens, I’m really quite bad at talking about things or taking advice into practice. Also the idea that talking about things and trying to apply deep philosophies or big ethereal ideas is often useless, just for me personally, I often get lost in that kind of thinking. I’d much rather be taking action.”

Of the video, he added:

I knew I wanted to make something fun and elaborate. I started to dig into some big production ideas but built concepts that didn’t take themselves too seriously at the same time. I also wanted to have something about the duality of perspective which is what the song is about, that’s where the idea of the mask came from; The idea that something bad can also be good… and vice versa, depending on how you look at it. Co-Director Brendan Ward and I came up with some crazy ideas and somehow managed to pull them all off.”
