Singaporean shoegaze / dream pop band motifs have dropped the video for their latest single “Hourglass“.
The song is taken from last year’s debut album ‘Remember A Stranger’, co-released by Too Good To Be True and Fastcut Records . Grab it here.
Recorded in early 2022 by Leonard Soosay of Snakeweed Studios, the album straddles two themes – ‘fading memories’ and ‘coping with loss’. Many of the songs were inspired by Elspeth Ong’s memories of her growing up years and expriences.
Influences include 90s shoegaze, post-punk, and dream-pop acts.
Watch the clip below.
Motifs are Elspeth Ong (vocals/guitar), Jit Jenn Tan (lead guitar), Badrul Amin (synths/vocals/guitar), Paul Yuen (bass) and Jolin Chiam (drums/percussions)
Motifs “Hourglass” Lyrics:
And i don’t know where this road goes
But i’ll take it far from here
I don’t see familiar faces
Wherever i may roam
Uncertainty (2)
Everything I know gets blurry
But i’ll walk to know the way
I don’t want to think of leaving
Do I even wanna stay?
Uncertainty (4)
And i don’t know where this road goes
(but i’ll take it far from here)
But i’ll walk to know the way
(do i even wanna stay?)
I don’t wanna think of leaving
(i don’t see familiar faces)
Do i even wanna stay?
