Toronto indie rock/post rock/shoegaze duo Paragon Cause (aka Jay Bonaparte and Michelle Opthof) have released their new single “Crazy Over You“.
The song, a B-Side from their album Autopilot (2021), was the original version of Think I’m Going Crazy Over You, recorded with Sune Rose Wagner (The Raveonettes). Grab it here.
Known for superlative songwriting, masterful arrangements and exceptionally compelling and memorable production, Ottawa’s Paragon Cause pushes the conventions of traditional pop music structures, embracing darker, grittier, more unpleasant aspects of human existence. Their single, Crazy Over You, features a moodiness and atmospheric nature that comes from the best of the 1990s and early 2000s Brit Pop scene, melded with guitar sounds that would not be out of place in the 1970s or 1980s, but enveloped in a 21st century production sensibility that makes the song sound timeless and yet very much of the moment.
Over the last 2 years they have been working on producing music for other bands as well as some other musical endeavors. They have produced new music for A Flock of Seagulls, Berlin as well as American Indie bands Palm Ghosts (Nashville) a others. Michelle has also been involved in Musical Theater and starred in some incredible productions here in Canada. The two are currently working on new music.
