Red Telephone Release New Single/Video "Faithful"

Cardiff indie rock/psych/synthwave band Red Telephone have released their new single “Faithful” alongside a music video.

The song is taken from their brand new album, Delay The New Day, out today, Jan 31 via Cooking Vinyl. Buy your copy here.

Drawing inspiration from MGMT and St. Vincent, Red Telephone crafts a cinematic journey that blends industrial post-punk grit with haunting electronic noir.

Focus track ‘Faithful’, is a stand out amongst the album. Delving into the power of group dynamics and social proof, it explores how external influences shape our engagement with everything from art to social issues. With its haunting religious undertones, the song delves into the power of faith as both a source of solace and a potential for danger. Ethereal church-like verses transcend into driving choruses which mirror this duality, symbolising the tension between individual thought and the conformity of the crowd.

Lead singer Declan says:

Musically, it definitely started out with a bit of St Vincent influence before splintering off into a bunch of things. I think she’s great at bridging the melodic and rhythmic, so we were definitely trying to draw on that with Faithful. I’ve always been fascinated and unnerved by group dynamics, crowd mentality and the power of social proof. How that stuff influences the way people engage with everything from art to social issues never seems to change very much. There’s a religious aspect to it that I feel we’re all at the mercy of. This album was partly about fighting those instincts, in favour of finding sanity and meaning in the creative process. Seeking a spirit of independence.”
