Irish indie rock band The Burma have returned with their new single “23“.
2023 is looking to be a big year for the band: their sophomore album is due for release later this year. Additionally, they will be performing their first-ever live show in the UK on Saturday the 19th of August in London. Tickets are available here.
Offering insight, The Burma describes how the song was born: “‘23’” is the first song we wrote and recorded for our second album. It’s one of those songs that came together really quickly. The song you hear now has barely changed from its initial conception, which is a rare thing for us!”
Opening with a touch of the psychedelic, ‘23’ is an airy blend of retro-filtered synth stabs and Indie Rock grooves. The track captures the longing for what could have been dabbed with a touch of nostalgia that brings the work of Beach House, Real Estate, and Beach Fossils to mind.
The song is out now via The Burma Music Group and follows last year’s album ‘Sucker For Stars‘. Grab it here and take a listen below.
Since the release of their debut album Sucker For Stars, they have gained extensive coverage and airplay across Ireland, the UK, and the USA. The 3-piece is made up of Tony O Donovan (Vocals), Peter Piggott (Lead Guitar) – both from Cobh Co. Cork, and Cian Doherty (Drummer) from Doolin, Co. Clare. Crediting their influence to the 2000’s American Indie scene, the band names Tame Impala, The Strokes, and Mac Demarco as their inspiration.
