Cincinnati post punk/synth punk/electronic band The Serfs have shared their new single “Electric Like An Eel“.
The track features on their upcoming third studio album ‘Half Eaten By Dogs‘, due to be released on October 27 via Trouble In Mind. Pre-order your copy here.
“Half Eaten By Dogs” successfully coalesces everything that The Serfs have accomplished to date, but with greater intent and purpose than their preceding albums by a mile. There are songs to dance to, and songs to take in during a storm or while riding free through the roads of the world. It may be a step further down into the catacombs for the band, but if the principle of correspondence is correct, then they could be their way to somewhere higher.
Following the low-end sizzle of lead single “Club Deuce,” “Electric Like An Eel” opens with a wave of harmonica and surging synth trills and sounds like a track for dancing in a packed room on the coldest night of the year. Its instrumentation is reminiscent of New Order’s Brotherhood.
The band coyly elaborates: “An ‘electrophorus electricus’ swimming through a sewer on the moon, taking in the sights and making deals, stunning just to feel real.”

The Serfs, made up of Dylan McCartney (vocals, percussion, guitar, bass, electronics), Dakota Carlyle (electronics, bass, guitar, vocals), and Andie Luman (vocals, synths), are undeniably near the center of the city’s neu-underground scene.
