Southend-on-Sea indie pop / indie rock four-piece The Trusted have released their new single “The Lightning“.
According to frontman Tom Cunningham, the track is “an electrifying exploration of ego, self-worth, and inner greatness.” It’s a bold claim, but the band delivers with a blend of sparse yet soulful electronica in the verses, building into infectious choruses that demand to be experienced on a grand scale. Get it here.
Often compared to renowned artists, The Trusted once again present a sound that blends influence of both early and late Peter Gabriel with the lush, electronic production style of LCD Soundsystem. ‘The Lightning’ is a fresh, modern take that sets the band apart in today’s music scene.
As Tom Cunningham elaborates:
“The song delves into the introspective battle we all face when looking in the mirror, confronting our true potential. It’s a powerful reminder that within each of us lies a spark of brilliance—our very own bolt of lightning. Too often, we hold it back. ‘The Lightning’ calls on us to unleash that energy and embrace our greatness.”
UPDATE 10/23/2024″ The band have now shared the accompanying video. Watch it below.
Following the success of their recent single ‘Self Destruct‘—which amassed over 70,000 streams in just three months—The Trusted have seen their fanbase expand globally, with merchandise shipping to the USA, Hong Kong, Italy, and Estonia.
Known for their innovative sound and compelling storytelling, The Trusted are carving out their place as pioneers in the modern indie pop scene.
