Canadian minimal/electronic pop artist Annie-Claude Deschênes (from Duchess Says/PyPy) has revealed her new single “LES MANIÈRES DE TABLE“.
The song, produced by Annie-Claude Deschênes, Jean-Michel Coutu & Johnny Jewel, serves as the title track of on her debut solo album, out this Friday, April 5 via Italians Do It Better Music and Bonsound. Buy it here.
A key figure on the Montreal independent music scene for almost twenty years, the singer/musician/songwriter/performer/visual artist is going solo for this new project.
Inspired by the pioneers of electronic music, LES MANIÈRES DE TABLE is as danceable and melodic as it is disquieting and dystopian. The album proposes to set the table differently by deconstructing the social codes of politeness, and draws from a wide range of influences, notably Steve Reich’s minimalism, Kraftwerk’s synthetic textures, Herbie Hancock’s stylistic diversity and experimental cinema’s unconventional approach to narrative.
