ASHRR Reveal New Single "Different Kind of Life"

Los Angeles nu disco/indie dance/psych rock band ASHRR have revealed their soul-infused, space disco single “Different Kind of Life“.

The track is out now via UK label 20/20 Vision Recordings. The release features remixes from the longstanding figurehead of Berlin’s electronic music culture, Massimiliano Pagliara. The first has some nice indie vocals and dazzling chord work, while the second is a deep dub that pairs things back. ASHRR adds a ‘Soundsystem Version’ that wraps up another unmissable outing from the trio, laced throughout with their unique sun-kissed swagger.

Speaking on the track, ASHRR add:

“‘Different Kind Of Life’ is about the expression of samsara, the cycle of never being pleased with what you have, but always wanting more or something else. When we went to write this song which started out with the bass line and polyrhythmic drums, we eventually mixed up our love of Afrobeat rhythms from the late 70’s with the post-punk soul dance floor anthems that Frankie Knuckles would be playing at Paradise Garage on a Saturday night.

Comprised of Ethan Allen, Josh Charles, and Steven Davis, ASHRR distills down soul- infused, funked-up space disco, new wave, and indie electronica. Melodic, cosmic disco feels with an injection of a post-punk edge, synthesised and hazy yet with an analogue authority. Ethan and Josh work their magic at the controls, while Steven’s luscious vocal provides an illuminating aura.
