German garage punk/psych band Bikini Beach have released their new single “King Ueli” and its accompanying music video.
The song is taken from their forthcoming new album ‘Appetizer‘, set to be released on February 10 via German lalbel La Pochette Surprise Records. Pre-order your copy here.
Is “King Ueli” about the beer, the snowboarder, the folk hero from Appenzell? Or the Swiss version of Till Eulenspiegel? Many questions, many answers that BIKINI BEACH owe. But who needs a straight answer when you’re so mesmerized by the squirming psych riffs of the second single from the new year’s record, Appetizer? So it’s also fitting that bassist Lotti sings ice-cold “I got nothing to say to you / So please just go away” over her straight-forward bass run, before the trio swerves and joins in a percussive bridge fueled by singing choirs best DATSUNS style loses. The king is dead, long live King Ueli.
