Dreamwave Share New Single/Video "Wide Shooter"

Bristol post punk / psych /shoegaze/krautrock /alt band Dreamwave have shared their new single “Wide Shooter” alongside a music video.

The song is out now via Velvet Echoes Records, and follows on from last year’s single “Polystyrene Irene”. Grab it here.

Wideshooter sees the group dive headfirst into new waters, showcasing a more unconventional and playful side. The track was presented as a lyricless demo the night before their studio session at Nine Volt Leap with Dom Bailey-Clay. Inspiration took hold leading to the band finalising it faster than its total length of 3 minutes and 3 seconds. This is a single of firsts with bassist Cam taking lead vocals and all other members featuring on various backing vocals throughout.

Channeling long time heroes The B52’s and Devo, the track leans into Punk and New wave, whilst still capturing the mischievous psych underbelly from previous releases. The lyrical content of the track tips its hat to Sunday league football  and is accompanied by a DIY spoof style music video produced, filmed and edited by themselves.

About Dreamwave

From one bedroom via two cities. The Dreamwave project started on a simple recording set-up that now finds itself pressed to wax for the first time. Surrounded by music in Brighton, the members of Dreamwaves paths collided to form a psychedelic rock project that represented their shared love of retro graphic design artwork, Bauhaus minimalism, and sci-fi such as Warhammer.

Bristol’s Dreamwave have carved out a reputation across the UK for their dynamic performances, igniting packed rooms at iconic venues like Bristol’s Rough Trade, London’s Old Blue Last, and Shacklewell Arms, and performing for tastemakers such as Eat Your Own Ears and at Glastonbury festival.

Their Debut EP ‘Dreamwave and the Mindcave’  received critical acclaim, propelling them into a pink tinted limelight amongst local and international psych scenes. To finish off 2024, the group returned with Polystyrene Irene.
