Liverpool indie rock/punk/post punk band Eyesore & The Jinx have unleashed their new single “An Ideas Man“.
The song, recorded in the Summer of 2022 at Yellowbird Studio (Wirral) with producer and mixer Daniel Fox (Gilla Band) at the helm, tells the story of a greedy landlord, unfortunately many of us are far too familiar with.
The band’s Josh Miller explains:
“Inspired by the post-pandemic explosion of #propertytok, ‘An Ideas Man’ is about the cult of landlordism and a parasitic ideology which has become pervasive in its wake, it’s about exploitation masquerading as philanthropy and the pursuit of a passive income which has become celebrated rather than shamed. In short, it’s about how much I fucking hate landlords.”

The band’s debut EP ‘The Exile Parlour’, came out in the midst of the pandemic, which scuppered live plans across the UK and EU to support the release. Despite that, the band were able to showcase the EP with a live online performance from a closed FUTURE YARD in Birkenhead in late 2020, which was viewed by over 1200 fans.
They spent the latter end of 2021 and much of 2022 writing new material and also tightening it up on stage with some choice gigs supporting acts like Bodega and DITZ.
2023 feels like a fresh start for the band, with lots of recorded music under their belts, ‘An Ideas Man’ is just a taster of many things to come.
