Flamingods Announce New LP 'Head of Pomegranate', Air "Gutterball"

London//Bahrain psych/funk/alt four-piece Flamingods have announced the release of their fifth studio album ‘Head of Pomegranate‘.

The 11-track album, recorded last Summer in Atlanta Grammy award-winning producer Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Deerhunter, M.I.A.), will be out October 13th via The Liquid Label. Pre-order your copy here.

The much-loved London quartet have now been crafting their distinctive genre-defying music for over a decade now. Stylistically and in typical nature of a Flamingods record, there are a lot of genres and sounds covered. Weaving through genres of psychedelia, new wave, electronica and punk – often within the same song – is a bit of a specialty for the band, as is their knack for blending in influences from their unique cultural heritages and love of 70s British rock and roll.

Of the album’s title, they said:

The album title comes from the Arabic translation of Ras Rumman رأس الرمان; the name of the Bahraini village where my dad grew up, a place where pomegranates were once cultivated. We lost him to Covid during the writing process and so the album became a bit of tribute to him alongside themes of grief, spirituality, culture, identity and recovery.

The band have also aired their new single “Gutterball“, “a Middle Eastern inspired satirical / political punk song that’s one of their favourites from the album”. We have previously heard the first single “Dreams (On The Strip)“.
