Sydney new wave/darkwave/goth duo INAUGURAL have released their new single “NIGHTCLUB“.
INAUGURAL channels the perspective of two biblically accurate angels navigating a post-modern world. Their songwriting touches on themes like love, existential dread, club culture, and even the enigmatic shark that repeatedly bites fiber optic internet cables.
This energetic duo, consisting of Alice Amsel (of BVLLVDS) and Phil Spiteri (from DROVES), began the project in 2023. They represent a collaborative fusion of songwriting abilities from distinct corners of the Dark Wave and Post Punk genres. Their second single, ‘NIGHTCLUB‘, recorded by renowned engineer Neal Sutherland and mixed by Jonathan Tooke of the beloved band Cry Club, is “an anti dance song that encapsulates modern disillusion and existential dread“.
To celebrate the release of ‘NIGHTCLUB’, INAUGURAL will be releasing a Medieval remix of the track in December titled ‘Nocturne Tavern Death’. “Verily, thou mayst anticipate a great many lutes”. INAUGURAL will be touring the east coast of Australia this Halloween. Dates Below.
