Vancouver post-punk/darkwave/shoegaze musician Leathers (aka artist/vocalist Shannon Hemmett from ACTORS) has unveiled her new single “Highrise“.
The song, production by fellow ACTORS bandmate Jason Corbett, is out today (Jan 20) via Artoffact Records and follows-on from last year’s track “Ultraviolet”. Grab it here.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Hemmett says: “I’m always fighting through my inhibitions. With “Highrise” I get to fantasize about an illicit encounter with wealth and sexual power in a penthouse high above the city. What could be more fun?!”
Take a listen below.
Leathers “Highrise” Lyrics:
You live in a highrise
No birds or butterflies
Live beyond your means
Like you always dreamed
In a room painted gallery white
Isn’t it nice?
This 21st century life
Cool as concrete
Naked on the balcony
Sleepless in the pale moonlight
You only go out at night
Isn’t it nice
In your highrise
Like a page from a magazine
That’s come to life
In your highrise
Isn’t it nice
Living your best life
You’re never satisfied
From the penthouse floor
A soft-core voyеur
Undress me with your eyеs
What’s not to love?
Up in the sky
Flying first-class
Between cities made of glass
Your love affair with vanity
So easy to excite
Isn’t it nice
In your highrise
Like a page from a magazine
That’s come to life
Isn’t it nice
In your highrise
Isn’t it nice
