Berlin based producer/DJ duo Local Suicide and Russian DJ / producer Velax have unveiled their collaborative new single “Unorthodox Orthodox“.
The song serves as the title track of their upcoming EP, due out on April 20 via Iptamenos Discos. Pre-order it here.
Their EP casts a shadowy, atmospheric spell, blending industrial, electro, dark disco, and techno elements into a mesmerizing tapestry of sound.
The collaboration blossomed when the Local Suicide, crossed paths with Velax (aka Alex Twitchy) during his sojourn in Mexico City. Hailing from the frigid city of Surgut in Russia, Velax brings a narrative from the existential realm, having crafted music under various aliases for nearly a decade. Fatigued by the dichotomy of truth and falsehood, good and evil, Velax transcended to a metaphysical plane to weave his tales.
Meanwhile, Local Suicide’s distinctive blend of dark disco, new wave, EBM, and techno serves as the perfect complement to Velax’s vision. This EP also boasts high class remixes from the esteemed French icon, Arnaud Rebotini, and the visionary Mexican artist, Andre VII.
“Unorthodox Orthodox” adopts a slower pace, allowing the punchy kick and snare to dominate. Metallic synths create a hypnotic ambiance, blurring the line between the familiar and the alien.
