Irish electronic/synthwave/dance duo Nixer have unleashed their new single “Saccharine Smile“, alongside a music video.
The song features on their upcoming EP ‘I hit the town and the town hit me back‘, out on May 15 via Blowtorch Records. Pre-order it here.
Nixer is Seán Keenan and Simon Gardner. Their sound could be described as ‘New Wave’ and is a fusion of vocals, guitar and synths. They cite influences in their music from acts such as Boy Harsher, Molchat Doma, King Krule, Fontaines D.C., and The Stone Roses.
Sonically, the EP is a distillation of the trademark Nixer sound: uptempo and visceral, all whilst delicately balanced with the perfect amount of pop sensibilities.
Saccharine Smile marks an early collaboration between lyricist Seán Keenan and beatmaster Simon Gardner. The track was one of the first sent by NYC-based Simon when the project began in late 2022.
Following on from the successes of The Book, Second Hand and Pleasure, Saccharine Smile offers another insight into the Nixer perspective of modernity, exploring themes of dependency, addiction and loneliness, through the lens of mobile phone use.
