Oliver Marson Premieres New Single/Video "Tokyo"

London-based post punk/synth pop artist Oliver Marson has premiered his new single “Tokyo” and its accompanying music video .

The song, featuring vocals from Maya from For Breakfast and Charles cave from White Lies, is another taste of his forthcoming new album ‘Why did I choose this?’, it follows this year’s single “Blue Dreams“. Grab it here.

Watch/listen below.

Oliver Marson blends music from the 60s, 70s and 80s to create a catchy baroque pop sound. This is ludicrous music for ludicrous times and satire for life in late capitalism. His lyrics take more from contemporary rap artists like Danny Brown rather than the current zeitgeist of guitar bands, because of their provocative nature.

Tokyo Lyrics:

Tried to call you but you wouldn’t answer
Left a thousand messages and not a single word
Not a single word

Down on the boulevard where I tried to kiss you
I turned around AND THEN I never ever saw you again
I never ever saw you again

Talking to strangers
About all my problems.
I can entertain the notion of you and I being together

I fell in love in Tokyo, I fell in love in Tokyo
We pay the price for our dreams, but Life goes on in Tokyo

Now your friends are calling as you’re leaving
You’re saying you’re sorry but I know your not coming back this time

I fell in love in Tokyo, I fell in love in Tokyo
We pay the price for our dreams, but Life goes on in Tokyo
You brought me down to my needs but life goes on in Tokyo
