Plattenbau Announce New Album 'Net Prophet', Stream "Celebration"

Berlin post punk/no wave/indie band Plattenbau have announced the release of their third studio album ‘Net Prophet‘, and have shared their new single/video “Celebration“.

The follow-up to 2022’s ‘Shape / Shifting’ will be out on September 8th through Dedstrange Records. Pre-order it here.

Recorded live in the Berlin studio Monoton, the record demonstrates the band in its prime – tightened up and influenced by their extensive touring, who have honed their sound from simple elements into a rich and tasty nugget, easily digestible for the modern consumer. Always true to their company slogan “tight, loose and evil™”.

Net Prophet finds the band moving deeper into the vaporous territory of 21st century excess, where power casually corrupts absolutely and the mental netscape is more deranged in the membrane than we ever knew possible. A world on the edge, where imminent ecocide and violent social upheaval lurk beneath every minute mental distraction. The doomscroll gets longer and the attention span shorter as a disconnected global internet life takes over with its scepters of promise and looming evasiveness.

Of the new single and video, Plattenbau’s Lewis Lloyd says:

“‘Celebration’ is about dancing out the crooked shapes of generational trauma and returning to a space of communion and ceremony. This video was shot on the edge of the Sahara desert in sweltering midday sunshine. We wanted to go to a hostile environment, devoid of human life to portray the spiritual poverty that we have, especially in the west, from this over-emphasis on the intelligence of the thinking mind. Coming out of this space, we wanted to recreate the feeling of reconnecting to the body and to the feeling of aliveness, despite all the chaos and trash of the external world. It felt fitting for this climax of communion and good times to take outtakes from our shows supporting A Place To Bury Strangers at Bowery Ballroom in New York City and SO36 in Berlin.”
