Los Angeles synth pop/ indie rock artist Primer (aka Alyssa Midcalf) has shared her new single “Round And Round“, accompanied by a music video.
The track serves as the title track of her upcoming EP, set to arrive on June 6 via Born Losers Records. Pre-order it here.
Speaking about the EP, Primer says : “I recorded and produced the EP in my apartment using a collection of software and hardware instruments (mostly software). I wanted to reference different eras of music and use instruments I’ve never used before like flute and sitar. The songs explore themes of betrayal, misunderstanding oneself, defeatism and class anxiety.”
Of the song, she shared: “‘Round and Round’ is about the mundanity of life and the internal struggles between cardinal pleasure and true fulfillment. I wanted to write about the cyclical nature of seeking stimulus, distraction, and pleasure just to end up with the same feeling the same way you did before you indulged.”
