Berlin dream pop/shoegaze/indie artist THALA has announced the release of her second studio album ‘Avalanche’ .
Along with the announcement Thala has also shared the lead single “drive song“. The follow-up to her 2021’s debut ‘Adolescence’, will be release on 14th February via Fire Records. Pre-order your copy here.
As 2023’s EPs revisited painful chapters in her life, ‘Avalanche’ offers a more focused worldview, tackling more mature matters of the heart. The record sees Thala caught in that moment when indie confidently explodes into soaring panoramic rock, a coming of age statement and a strident evolution from her previous work. Drawn to the cerebral emotion of early 90s shoegaze and indie rock, these are songs to live by.
“Drive song” sees Thala on a personal trip as it slides into a somnambulant plea set against vintage Cure-like chiming guitars. Released alongside a brand new music video, shot in Los Angeles and directed by Thala and Jack Campise, it’s the perfect setting for bringing this song’s character to life.
Commenting on the track, she says:
“drive song is a song where a character falls in love with someone without even knowing who they are, kind of ”blinded by the pretty shiny light” one could say, to then fall into a deep hole of depression as their toxic energy sucks all the good away and makes them question their life choices whilst still missing that relationship.”
