Southend-on-Sea indie pop / indie rock four-piece The Trusted have released their new single “Self Destruct“.
Distinguished by its raw power and exhilarating energy, “Self Destruct”, a blistering ode to rebellion and resilience, is a sonic powerhouse that redefines the boundaries of punk and indie rock. This track is an uber-garage, proto-punk, new wave banger that packs the guts and audacity of tracks like Jack White’s “Sixteen Saltines,” while incorporating the pop sensibilities and catchy, earworm elements characteristic of The Trusted’s repertoire.
Lead vocalist Tom Cunningham, describes “Self-destruct” as a song about self-sabotage. It’s a tune concerned with the desire for self-destruction. This three-minute, four-chord punk rock song was created to introduce something fast, sharp, and loud to our discography. While people love to party, often we take it too far. “Self Destruct” delves into the experiences of an individual who is pushing their body and mind to dangerous extremes for the sake of a fleeting thrill.
With “Self Destruct,” The Trusted continue to solidify their reputation as pioneers in the indie rock genre. The single is not just a musical composition; it’s an experience. It offers a glimpse into the band’s creative genius and their relentless pursuit of artistic expression.
