Big Orange Drop "This Won't Hurt A Bit" Music Video

Perth indie rock/alt band Big Orange (led by Daniel Davis) have dropped the video for their latest single “This Won’t Hurt A Bit“.

The track features on their upcoming sophomore album, ‘The Perils of Desire’, due for release in August 2024 through Blue Grey Pink. Get it here.

Grounded in driving rhythm, built upon by grandiose layers of string-sounding synths and atmospheric guitar, This Won’t Hurt A Bit is a lush sonic scape, fused by Daniel’s raw, poignant vocals and existential lyricism “There was a fire in your eyes, slowly dying inside, lie awake and wonder why, you’re not the only one, through the labyrinth of life and all the horrors it holds, It drains your bones and haunts your dreams and it destroys you”.

He explains “this is a song about my deep insecurities. It came from my dark subconscious, and the trepidation of the world in which I was cast. I think many people could relate to this. It’s a song for anyone that lies awake at night, wondering what the hell we are doing here, how we are meant to survive and hold onto the dreams we were promised.”

Big Orange “This Won’t Hurt A Bit” Lyrics:

I never said it wouldn’t hurt
So why complain
I never said you were to blame
Well, how was I to know
How was I to know

The more and more you learn
The more you’re alone

There was a fire in your eyes
Slowly dying inside
Lie awake and wonder why
You’re not the only one
Through the labyrinth of life
And all the horrors it holds
It drains your bones and haunts your dreams
And it destroys you
And i stare into the void holding on

I hear the licentious crow
Right outside my window
Their voices are obscene
Pulling at my seams
But they know that they’re loved

The more and more you love
The more you’re alone

There was a fire in your eyes
Slowly dying inside
Lie awake and wonder why
You’re not the only one
Strangled, force fed, demonized
I drank the blood of young love
It drains your bones and haunts your dreams
And it destroys you
And i stare into the void holding on
