French electronic/dark-disco/leftfield/post punk project Black Mental has unleashed his new single “I Need Rest“.
The song serves as the title track of his new EP, due out tomorrow, October 7 via Rotten City Records. Grab it here.
Produced by David Shaw, musician, producer and owner of the label Her Majesty’s Ship Records, the EP oscillates between Cold Wave and Dark Pop. It emerges a certain contemporary melancholy, a dancing and haunting vibe, a modest nostalgia for the passing of time.

Born in 2019, Black Mental explores the way to produce simple and dark music made with 80’S bass, synth textures, and minimal beats.
The project is influenced by other artists like Einstürzende Neubauten, Nick Cave, The Soft Moon, Trent Reznor, David Lynch, and by artistic movements like Dada, Bauhaus, and surrealism.
