Bootblacks Announce New Album 'Paradise', Stream "Only You"

Brooklyn post punk/cold wave/new wave band Bootblacks have announced the release of their new studio album “Paradise“.

Along with the announcement they have also shared their new single “Only you” featuring contributions from Chris Vrenna (NIN, Tweaker) and Benjamin Harrison (Max Cruise). The 9-track record will be out on June 13 through Artoffact Records. Pre-order your copy here.

According to the press release, “Paradise” marks a departure from the manic percussion and guitar-driven energy of the artist’s angular post-punk roots to a more electronic and immersive soundscape. The album continues their exploration of the 1980’s musical landscape with melancholic lyrics, shimmering guitar riffs, lush synths, sultry saxophones and bass-driven soundscapes. “Paradise” is an audacious ode to contradiction: lush yet raw, melancholic yet euphoric, polished yet pulsing with grit, where beauty and despair coexist.

Bootblacks formed in 2010, the current lineup of the band consists of Panther Almqvist on vocals, Barrett Hiatt on synth, and Kalle Fagerberg on guitar. Their sound is characterized by its brooding and atmospheric melodies, driving rhythms, and Almqvist’s emotive vocals. The band draws inspiration from the post-punk and darkwave movements of the 1980s, but also incorporates contemporary elements of electronic music into their sound.
