Washington, DC indie rock/dream pop/indie-psych band Color Palette (led by Jay Nemeye) have revealed their new single “Dreams“.
Speaking on the track, Nemeye explains:
Most people simply don’t have the time to do what they truly love. We’ve got to worry about rent, bills, world wars, health crises, and working a (sometimes) very unfulfilling job. “Dreams” attempts to capture this sentiment with the refrain “our lights are bright, but they’re fading fast”. In a world that is descending into chaos, “Dreams” seeks to unite us all under the umbrella of commiseration. This song was heavily influenced musically by bands such as Slow Dive, Ride, and My Bloody Valentine.

Color Palette “Dreams” Lyrics:
Tell me what happened to our dreams
Pulling apart, bursting at the seams
I think about it every day
Hopes and desires washed away
Hitching a ride down a dead end street
Trying to survive, trying to make ends meet
Don’t know where we go from here
Crystal ball isn’t so clear
Our lights are bright but they’re fading fast
Hope that we can last through the night
Our story’s long, it’s not been written yet
We’ve still got so much to say
Searching for meaning in the dark
Staring at a screen, looking for a spark
Clouds follow us as we go
Staying frozen we don’t grow
Our lights are bright but they’re fading fast
Hope that we can last through the night
Our story’s long, it’s not been written yet
We’ve still got so much to say
Our lights are bright but they’re fading fast
Hope that we can last through the night
Our story’s long, it’s not been written yet
We’ve still got so much to say
Our lights are bright but they’re fading fast (x8)
