Tottenham-based indie rock/psych Common Goldfish has dropped his new single “I Don’t Feel Today” and its accompanying video.
The song is out now through through MAX RAD’s label Three Sign Records. Get it here.
With a nod to the late 60s psychedelic rock movement and, more recently, the 90s Britpop era, Common Goldfish’s sound boasts a nostalgic familiarity while spinning new threads in contemporary music.
The brainchild of producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Jonty Lovell, Common Goldfish’s vibrant and ear-catching melodies laid over a combination of breakbeats and funk-inspired bass lines, create an irresistible groove that stirs a sense of optimism.
Following on from his previous two releases, Feel the Fuzz and Shout Louder, “I Don’t Feel Today” immerses the listener in the mindspace of a generation increasingly disillusioned with and disconnected from society.
Speaking about it, Common Goldfish shares:
“We are living more and more on top of each other but for some reason we’re becoming increasingly isolated from one another. The rise of independence and individualism has been at the expense of community and a sense of belonging. With the pace of life getting faster and faster, we’re spending more and more time in front of screens on a never-ending quest for instant gratification. I do worry that we’re losing our sense of reality and what matters most – human interaction and connection.”

Common Goldfish “I Don’t Feel Today” Lyrics:
Walking in the rain
Water streaming down my face
I don’t feel today, I don’t feel today,
When I’m lost in isolation
And I’m numb to all sensations
I don’t feel the same, go and blow it away
I want to feel again
Let’s not fight, it’s over
‘Cause you can fight it sober
Let’s not fight, it’s over
‘Cause you can fight it sober
Let’s not fight, it’s over
You can fight it sober
Lost my sense of direction
Looking down but no reflection
I don’t feel today, I wanna feel again
I wanna feel again
Walking in the rain, I wanna feel again
Water streaming down my face
I don’t feel today, I don’t feel today
I wanna feel again
