LA-based psychedelic rock/ psych pop project Galaxy Shores has aired his glossy new single ‘Shop Nostalgia’.

Josh Herren, the producer and multi-instrumentalist behind Galaxy Shores, showcases swirling guitars, analogue synths, and vintage drums, offering a blend of psychedelic rock, shoegaze, indie, and dream pop.
The 11-track album is a sonic journey brimming with swirling, phased-out guitars, analogue synths, vintage drums, and the messy, psychedelic production that has become Galaxy Shores’ signature. The record’s upbeat, chill psychedelic vibe, enriched with vintage sonic references and a modern touch, offers a versatile listening experience — perfect for both head-bobbing and laid-back introspection.
‘Shop Nostalgia’, captures the essence of this retro-modern fusion. Inspired by an Instagram ad promoting retro-themed products, Josh Herren reflects on the commercialization of nostalgia in contemporary culture. Herren shares:
“The initial idea for the track came from an Instagram ad that said ‘shop nostalgia!’ and had a bunch of retro-themed stuff you could buy. It just made me think about how wild it is that there’s an entire vintage/retro movement, even as someone who takes part in it; we’ve basically monetized the fact that time passes”.
Galaxy Shores’ music draws comparisons to acclaimed acts such as Tame Impala, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Toro y Moi, Pond, and MGMT, blending elements of psychedelic rock/pop, shoegaze, indie, and dream pop.
In addition to the album release, Galaxy Shores is set to perform at a festival in Pasadena, CA, on July 13th. The band is also collaborating with FanFlex to book additional dates throughout the summer and fall as they embark on their album cycle.
