Gathering of Strangers - Band of the Month (January)

This month’s featured band is Manchester indie rock/alt group Gathering of Strangers

One-time strangers who would go on to forge the closest of bonds, Conor, Tom, Bruce, Peter and Andre, formed Gathering of Strangers in 2015 in the creative crucible of Manchester while studying at University.

Combining captivating classic rock and the energy of modern-day indie pop, Gathering of Strangers are an explosive guitar rock five-piece. With thunderous high-octane energy, adrenalised anthemic vocals and rapacious riffs, they are creating a dynamic force into the rock scene.

Flirting their promise with a more mainstream audience, GoS have released a series of untouchable singles to date. Their debut single ‘Nice Hair’ came out in June 2018, the intoxicating following single ‘Lady’, released in March 2019, has all the class of modern-day appreciation.

In 2020 the band released their anthemic track “No Resmore“. The song tries to align the beauty and tragedy that lies behind family relationships, that some people may experience.

The following singles (2021) “Antidote” and the impassioned “Cherry Red”, a tale of your love/hate relationship with fear, expanded their global reach.

2022 saw the release of singles “Naked & Blind” and “Red & Gold“. A song “about having the time of your life with your lover or your family, simply dancing from sunset to sunrise all night long”, Red & Gold is pure energy from start to finish.

The band released 3 more singles last year My Thunder, The World Stopped Turning, and I’ll Be Waiting, another sign of the bright future ahead of them.

Crepuscular and catchy in equal measure, the five-piece blend affecting lyricism —  touching on the transformation to hope from helplessness — with earworm guitar rhythms that similarly seesaw between light and dark.

Gathering of Strangers are:

  • Conor Rabone (Vocals)
  • Tom Wingate (Guitar)
