Holy Youth Movement – Band of the Month

Our featured band this month is Bristol indie / electronic / rock & roll 5-piece Holy Youth Movement

Holy Youth Movement’s sound is a heavy mix of Rock n Roll and Electronica fuelled by Dance Floor Rhythms, driving Bass and a huge wall of Synthesizers and Guitar, all topped off with soaring anthemic Vocals and melodies.

Their love of Rock n Roll and bands such us Primal Scream, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Stooges as well as dance music and artists like The Chemical Brothers & Underworld, lead them to experiment with the task of combining those 2 genres. Produced by legendary producer Jagz Kooner (Primal Scream /Kasabian/ Sabres of Paradise/ Andrew Weatherall) HYM’ music is a perfect amalgamation of what he best describes as “Electronic Rock n Roll”.

The band released their debut single “You Thought I Was Dead (But Baby I’m Just Getting Started)”, in August 2021. Following single “Tranquilizer“, featuring the legendary Andrew Innes from Primal Scream on additional guitar and synthesizer, is a song not for the faint hearted as its a pure wall of dance floor energy with rawkus driving bass and guitars.

2022 saw the release of two singles ‘Information is Beautiful’ and “Better Together”. ‘Information is Beautiful, is a burning banging ode to the digital gods. Better Together is a song about creating a greatly needed chant for unity especially in these tumultuous and uncertain times.

This year HYM are preparing to release their debut EP. They have already shared “The Next One” and ‘The Shock Of The Future’.
