Bristol post-punk band IDLES have unveiled Coldplay-inspired video for “GRACE“.
The track is taken from their upcoming fifth album ‘TANGK‘, which will be out on February 16 via Partisan Records. Pre-order your copy here.
“The song came from nowhere and everything. It was a breath and a call to be held,” says Joe Talbot, “The only words or singing that came from our sessions with Nigel and I needed it, truly. All is love.”
“Grace” is a relatively slowburner by IDLES’ standards, as it takes the time to amplify the tension before detonating with a life-affirming crescendo.
The video is a recreation of Coldplay’s video for “Yellow”, but created with deepfake AI technology to give the impression that circa-2000 Chris Martin is instead singing “Grace.” Joe spoke to Chris about the idea shortly after his dream, and the Coldplay frontman reportedly gave his blessing to execute the idea, and also helped train the AI to make his vocal performance look more realistic.
