Keyside Unleash New Single "Rhianna, Please Don't Cry"

Liverpool indie rock/jangle pop band Keyside have unleashed their new single “Rhianna, Please Don’t Cry“, a story of following the beat of your heart as a route of escape.

The track is out now and is another taste of their forthcoming EP out early 2025, via Modern Sky. They have previously shared the gleaming late-summer special, Runaway.

Pulling off breathtaking displays of intricate, jangle-riffed indie pop one song after the other, the breezy opus belies troubled stories from behind closed doors, pulling at threads of modern social ills beneath the crystalline notes of instant-classic modern Merseybeat.

With a pervading sense of confinement, of living in the shadow of hurt and feeling boxed-in by urban solitude, Keyside’s lead singer-songwriter Dan Parker develops Rhianna, Please Don’t Cry’s character study beneath glittering chandeliers of melody. With every chord, hook and steadfast beat, the four-piece write rainbows over the same rain-soaked, North-Western streets of The Smiths, The La’s, The Coral and Blossoms themselves.

Parker says of the single:

This one’s about being young and wanting to escape from real life into something better in the company of someone new. Daydreaming of a time and place that’s better than this one.
