Hull post punk/alt band Low Hummer have announced that they’re calling it a day as a band.
The band have been around since 2019, and have released numerous singles in that time. Their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Modern Tricks for Living’ came out in 2021.
“Unfortunately we’ve decided to call it a day as a band,” they wrote in a Facebook post. “We’ve had some amazing times and are so thankful to everyone who has bought a record, come to a show, told their friends about us, bought merch or shown your appreciation of what we’ve been doing with the band. Sadly this means the tour in Autumn won’t go ahead. For anyone who has bought a ticket, firstly thank you and sorry we can’t play as planned. You will be able to get a full refund from your ticketing provider.”
The 6-piece make danceable, synth-heavy post-punk and write about feelings of alienation in a modern world of consumerism and societal pressures.
Following their debut album the band released the singles ‘Talk Shows’, ‘Panic Calls’ and ‘Connected‘ via independent Leeds label Dance To The Radio. These tracks throw together classic indie songwriting, anthemic noughties garage rock and more than a little 80’s inspired synth sounds.
Along with the sad announcement the band have shared their final single “Fade Young“, out now via Dance To The Radio.

We still have some physical records available at store.lowhummer.com. These will be the final pressing of the debut album and the label have discounted them to £15.
We should also share our huge thanks to BBC Music Introducing and PRS Foundation who have supported us to do things we wouldn’t have dreamed of when we started the band like SXSW, Leeds / Reading and these latest recordings.
Lastly, an incredible Thankyou to Dance to the Radio who’s incredible efforts have given the band so many milestones to be proud of.
We’ll also leave you with a new song ‘Fade Young’, which we’ve put together in an E.P with a few of our most recent songs
