NFU (Noise Factory United) Drop New Single "Ladyhammer"

Portsmouth, UK post punk/new wave/indie band NFU (Noise Factory United) have dropped their new single “Ladyhammer“.

The song is out now and follows on from last year’s singles “Exit the Gyroscope, Unveil the Anthropocene” and “MinotaurE“. Grab it here.

NFU,  made up of Zena Ide (synth/vocals), Stu Powell (guitar/vocals), Steve Phipps (bass/vocals), Miko Gorski (drums), and Scott Soo (vocals/guitar), fuse rock, post-punk and electronica in creation of a singular indie sound before the apocalypse kicks in.

Inspired by Belle Époque literature on crisis and change, NFU don’t do songs about unrequited love or wallow in the self-obsession of minor narcissisms. Instead, this five piece offer up socially-driven, self-deprecating observations about the grey and enigmatic zones of the everyday in their port cities of Portsmouth and Southampton.

Musical comparisons are varied but nothing pins down their sound with precision. Take the nihilism of Joy Division, Brian Cox’s search for answers to the big bang, and blend it with a nebular of Ultravox instrumentals and the dissonance of Wire and Television.

The band describe their new offering as “an energetic and gnarly post-valentine take on DIY and the beauty of brains over braun.”

Take a listen now.
