French indie/punk/power pop quartet No Drama have released their double new single “Papershop / A City Within“.
No Drama formed in Toulouse, France, in 2022. After a year spent playing local shows (opening for bands such as Come, Spite House and Hotline TNT), the band released an eponymous debut EP on Nov 23 and subsequently toured in France and Spain.
Drawing equally from 90’s indie rock, midwestern emo and shoegaze pop, the band’s lyrics combine catchy choruses with a certain sarcasm, addressing topics such as French bureaucracy, dormitory towns and social anxiety disorder.
‘Papershop’, is a pop punk hit which deals with working in a stationery retail company full of annoying customers. ‘A City Within’, is a more contemplative track which imagines parallels between an old cemetery in Toulouse and housing in modern cities.
