‘Pia Fraus’ formed in 1998 and released six studio albums and a handful of EP’s on various record labels worldwide. Their collective sound is a sublime mixture of dream-pop, subtle shoegaze and beautiful electronica all topped off blissfully with shimmering layered vocalisations. Made up of Eve Komp, Kärt Ojavee, Rein Fuks, Reijo Tagapere, Joosep Volk.
Pia Fraus started out slowly after meeting in high school in Tallinn. Guitarist/vocalist Rein Fuks and guitarist Tonis Kenkmaa formed the band with bassist Reijo Tagapere and drummer Joosep Volk. Cutting their teeth on the sounds of Stereolab and My Bloody Valentine, the group experimented with synthesizers and recruited vocalist Kristel Loide and keyboardist Kärt Ojavee. The band settled on the name Pia Fraus in autumn 1998 and began recording in 1999.
Evening Colours was recorded by Rein Fuks at Seksound Studios, Tallinn, Estonia and Erko Niit and Rein Fuks at Neat Beat Studios, Pärnu, Estonia.
