Auckland, NZ indie pop/alternative artist Princess Chelsea (aka Chelsea Nikkel) has revealed the video for “We Kick Around“.
The song features on her fifth studio album ‘Everything Is Going To Be Alright‘, released last year via Lil’ Chief Records. Grab it here.
The video was shot on Sony AX53 handy-cam after a gig at The Shredder in Boise, Idaho. Watch it below.
A classically trained pianist, Nikkel lent her talents to K road favourites Teen Wolf in the mid-2000s, and later in the touring lineup The Brunettes. When she wasn’t performing, she worked as a composer for a local recording studio, all the while refining her songwriting and production skills.
Chelsea’s cinematic, dreamy pop has been refined over 11 years, five albums, an E.P, and 11 singles. Her delivery and songwriting is distinctive for layering almost naive earnestness with cynical, tongue-in-check wit and aural sparkles. Her 2018 grunge girl group track ‘I Love My Boyfriend’ and her 2011 Nancy & Lee inspired ‘Cigarette Duet’ have recently raised her profile into the wider public consciousness via the grass roots influence of a new Tik Tok Generation.
