Swedish synthwave/synthpop/disco duo Sally Shapiro (made up of Sally Shapiro and Johan Agebjörn) have announced the release of their long-awaited new album ‘Ready To Live A Lie‘.
The album’s announcement comes with the release of new single “The Other Days” and its accompanying video. The 11-track record will be out May 30 through Italians Do It Better. Pre-order your copy here.
“We live in the era of lies,” says the group’s Johan Agebjörn. “We deceive ourselves, our partners, and those around us. On social media, we paint pictures of perfect lives, only to be fed falsehoods in return—by algorithms, newsfeeds, and politicians.” He adds, “But perhaps, at times, we need these deceptions to get by. Maybe loneliness is somehow inescapable and we simply do our best to navigate life.”
The album includes their cover of Pet Shop Boys classic “Rent,” released back in 2023. The new single is coupled with a new drumless version of Johnny Jewel’s remix of Forget About You.

Sally Shapiro’s music is heavily influenced by 80s italo disco. The project also includes the composer and producer Johan Agebjörn, both live in Lund, Sweden. Sally Shapiro’s real name is something else. She does not perform live.
