Austin, TX dream pop/psych/jangle pop band Semihelix have aired their new single “Slower Pace“.
The track, engineered and mixed by Matt Gerhard (Spoon, Future Islands, !!!) features on band on the forthcoming 7″ s/t EP release in early 2024. These songs are about resiliency, healing, overcoming trauma and other seemingly impossible situations, love, and social justice.
Semihelix is a ’90s leaning dream and psychedelic pop trio formed in a cloud of fuzz and delay in 2012. With melodic, yet loud, sounds that harken to influences as broad as the Pixies, Black Tambourine, Sonic Youth, and even the Kinks, the band released their last full-length, Recoil, via Mariel Recording Company on October 1, 2021. The release garnered international recognition from tastemakers both near and far.
Despite its title, “Slower Pace” is fast out of the gate, and rides the band’s signature jangle-pop inspired melodies. The song is about releasing negative thoughts and patterns, while not taking oneself too seriously. “Slower Pace” is about slowing down, enjoying each moment, and relating to each other with all the ups and downs we all have.
