SHADY BABY Reveal New Single/Video "Held In"

Brighton indie rock/alternative/garage rock band Shady Baby have revealed their new single Held In” and its accompanying video.

The track, recorded with Dan Crook and mixed by Theo Verney (English Teacher, FEET, FUR, Egyptian Blue, TRAAMS, Lime Garden, etc.), is out today, October 30. It follows on from their June’s release “Feel It”.

Speaking about it, songwriter Sam Leaver says:

‘Held In’ reflects on those lingering dreams that feel real but fade away suddenly when you wake up – so the lyrics are quite loose, with some references to those dreams I was having. The backing vocals, part-sung by my sister, were lifted from the demo and reflect that fading feeling in the chorus. It’s both about that and a sense of renewal and determination to keep moving forwards.”

About

Shady Baby is the musical project of Sam Leaver. Inspired by the sounds of Madchester & Britpop, and with a love for John Cooper Clarke, Leaver began making his own brand of angst-ridden pop during the height of lockdown where songs were formed out of frustration whilst locked in his bedroom. Forming in 2022, the band signed to tastemaker label Nice Swan Records after performing just one gig and worked with producer Theo Verney to record their debut singles ‘Come To Life’ and Lonely Town.

Sold-out headline shows in Brighton and London followed, as well as shows at the Supersonic Club in Paris and as part of the Dork Hype List Tour. They’ve also previously shared stages with Prima Queen, Youth Sector, Been Stellar, Saloon Dion, Hallan, She’s In Parties and more.
