Scottish indie rock/alt band Shambolics have dropped the video for their latest single “What’s Going On In Your Head“.

The song is part of our current playlist and features on their forthcoming debut EP ‘U SERIOUS BOI?!‘ out 14th April 2023 through Scruff of the Neck. Pre-order it here

Produced by Chris Marshall at 7 West Studios in Glasgow, the new EP traverses through gritty rock’n’roll, retro-tinted indie, and danceable pop.

Commenting on the track, they say:

What’s Going On In Your Head is about someone trying desperately to get out of a bad situation and bad habits, but can’t avoid falling back in to them again. We’ve seen this happen to people around us and everyone probably knows someone that it’s happened to.”

Despite the somewhat darker subject matter, the new single still retains the same elements that have made Shambolics such popular crowd-pleasers; with distinct vocals, a thumping beat, and melodic guitars leading us through a song that is sure to have crowds jumping – especially with its immensely catchy chorus. “Everything we do revolves around the live performance and how a song we write will go down with the crowd,” says co-lead vocalist and guitarist Darren Forbes.

Hailing from Fife but having recently relocated to the bustle of Glasgow, Shambolics have made a name for themselves on the Scottish scene and beyond with their infamous live performances and impressive knack for a hook-laden single.

Having played countless major festivals across the UK including TRNSMTStockton Calling and Sound City, as well as support slots with Richard Ashcroft (The Verve), The View, and Embrace; Shambolics have a reputation for a transcendental live show.

“We love experimenting and being creative in the studio,” Darren adds. “But that’s only half the story for us. Our shows are a collective experience, so if a song gets people going mad at a gig then we’ve got a winner.”

The band will support indie legends The View on Monday 12th December at Inchyra Arts Club and on Friday 16th December at 02 Academy in Glasgow, they will also headline PJ Mollys in Kirkcaldy on Friday 23rd December in aid of the Kirkcaldy Foodbank.

Shambolics are Lewis McDonald & Darren Forbes (Vox/Guitar), Ben Sharp (Bass), Jake Bain (Drums/Backing Vox), and Scotty Paws (Keyboard/Backing Vox).
