Winsford, Cheshire alt rock / psych band Skäl have revealed their raucous debut single ‘All of The People‘.
The track, produced and mixed by Jono Tringham, is out now via Snowdonia Records. Get it here.
‘All Of The People’ is an urgent, infectious and exciting debut track, that bursts out of the speakers on a wave of tremulous guitar hooks, grooving bass lines and quickfire drums, while Ev Kirwan’s vocals hook you in with a swaggering confidence as the song spirals into a frenetic guitar anthem and a rollicking crescendo with fantastic carousel of guitar solos. It reminds one of the resplendent early sound of The Stone Roses, they call it a “cross between The Verve and The Replacements“.
It’s a frenetic mix of anthemic melodies, floor-filling grooves, and uproarious rock with an all-for-one attitude of all the best gangs possess.
Skäl are Ev Kirwan (vocals), Jack Enty (guitar), Darcy Smith (guitar/backing vocals), Adam Latham (bass), and Tom Giltrow (drums/backing vocals). They cite Smashing Pumpkins, The Verve, The Las, The Replacements, Pixies, Echo and the Bunnymen, Wunderhorse, High Vis, and The Real People as influences, but filtered through the young magpie eyes of emerging musicians from their hometown, with a knack for melodic shots of rock songs and a burning desire to reach as many people as possible.

Skäl “All Of The People” Lyrics:
Take me down
I’m way too high
To go out
I’m losin’ touch
Of speed and sound
We’re goin’ back
To where we’ve found
[1]
All of the people
They look around
But they don’t seem to care
All of the people
They look at you
But you want ‘em there
Movin’ out of time
Our bodies dancin’ we’re entwined
The moment always seems just right
We’re takin’ this
For our own
Tonight
Repeat [1]
Won’t you break me down
To let me back in
‘Cos all the people around
They see you sinkin’
Into the depths of your brain
You feel it stingin’
Go on and do it again
It’s comin’ its comin’
And it’s never lettin’ go!
Repeat [1]
