Atlanta, GA indie rock/indie pop/nerve pop band Small Reactions have dropped their new single “Mineral Water” via a music video.
The track is taken from their upcoming EP ‘Your Face Replaces Mine‘, due to be released on February 15 via SofaBurn Records. Pre-order your copy here.
Small Reactions has always written pop songs, but noise, grit, and reckless abandon helped them to not get too comfortable with the label “pop music.” The EP’s 4 tracks, “Dinner Song”, along with “Mineral Water,” “Aviator,”—both outtakes from the band’s 2021 LP New Age Soul—and “Ex-Lion Tamer,” a Wire cover initially included on a compilation by The Blog that Celebrates Itself, evince that Small Reactions are both punctual and exciting.

Your Face Replaces Mine Tracklist:
- Mineral Water
- Aviator
- Dinner Song
- Ex-Lion Tamer (Wire)
The quintet play situational pop songs. Relying on the minimal instrumentation of guitar, bass, vintage organs, and drums, the quartet is equal parts post-punk, new wave, and surf. The band themselves prefer the term “nerve pop” to describe their music. The phrase comprises the frenetic energy of the late 70s new wavers and Bob Dylan’s shaky foot circa 1965. Sonically, they resemble equal parts “Chairs Missing”-period Wire and early Stereolab. Lyrically, they reside somewhere in the “new domestic” school.
